Yay, my conditional offer turned into an official offer last week! I have been busy with medical preparations for the past few weeks – scoping out health insurance, getting vaccinations and chest x-rays. Next step is firming up those details and buying flights! It looks like I will be flying out on or very close to July 14th. This is a bit earlier than I anticipated, but that should be okay!
We’ve had a good solid week and a half of warm weather and sun in Vancouver and it’s been glorious. (The bike ride from my new house to work is awesome!!) Rob is leaving for Bella Bella, BC at the beginning of June for a summer job [:(] to study whale song [uh, 🙂 x a billion] so we have been squeezing in lots of fun adventures. A visit up (more) North may be in store for later in the summer.
Just got back from a SFU Outdoors Club rock climbing weekend with beautiful weather and great people that I co-organized. The weather was 25 degrees and sunny every day which was perfect for the beginner course we ran on Saturday at Burgers and Fries in the Smoke Bluffs and the climbing we did on Sunday in Cheakamus. (Burgers and Fries is such a good teaching zone with it’s huge open areas!)

Later in the day on Saturday, we were climbing beside a family of three. The little girl was only seven years old and already knows how to place cams!! (A cam is a piece of rock climbing protection used for traditional climbing. I had to look up what it was called because I only sport climb – where you clip into pre-installed rock protection.)
You can see here that she is actually on a top rope, and just practising how to trad climb.
Better placement than I could do.
Kat and I had a coincidental banana bread battle a while ago.
I know it is common for cheesecakes to crack and become concave… but I had not seen a concave banana loaf until now. I was planning on bringing it to work, but I was too embarrassed by the
uncooked dough jelly banana custard-type liquid inside, haha.
…I still ate it.
